Ok so at my 37 week check up today i was 3cm dilated and 70% effaced. The doctor said this baby is coming this week. Curious if anyone else was 3cm, how long before. Being 2 to 3 cm dilated means that the cervix is beginning to open in preparation for childbirth, typically occurring before or during the early stages of labour. 37 weeks today, had my cerclage removed last thursday.
Today at our appt she checked again and am now 3cm dilated, 90%. At 36 week check up i was 4cm. Then at 37 weeks i was 5cm. I went to the hospital at 37+6 to be induced and was 6cm when i got there. Completely normal to start dilating before 40 weeks. You have 7 more cm to dilate fully and another 50% effacement to be fully effaced. There is no formula as to exactly how long this will take in each individual. My friend was 3cm from 35 weeks until she was induced at 38+4! You might go into labor sooner but you might not.
